happy moment

was chatting with my dad earlier...all in all, this is the most critical part of the conversation:

Tim: hey

Me: hiya

Tim: hey, when I walked into Katrina's house last night, and Jameh came running over (by now he is used to me showing up without "Abeeda"....Jameh looked at me and said, "where's Geoffrey?".

this'll keep me happy for, i don't know, forever!

chess brush up

This past weekend was quite nice. after a very busy week, Friday I had a staff visit to the old Western Pilgrim House and the Master's House which was very calming. After which I went out with Khat, Leila and Adib to get some tea/coffee/ and aroos el-wadi for lunch. later i went to the Shrine, but couldn't stay in their too long as I've had a bit of a cold for a while now and i was sniffling too much - I then went to the Pilgrim House to read and warm myself with some wonderful tea.

Later that evening was a talk by Mr. Hall which was very informative and thought provoking - it was on the 5 year plan. And then after that I went to a birthday part for three friends - Chantelle, Clair and Negeen. I couldn't stay too long as that headachy feeling which accompanies a cold began to build and build.

Saturday evening was tanother highlight of the weekend. I met nadim around 4:30 and we caught a bus up to a cafe near the ahuza. we settled in, got something warm to drink, and he trounced me spectacularly in our first and only game of chess for the evening - he probably felt sorry for me which is why we didn't play again. we spent the rest of the evening reading and talking. We concluded the evening with watching Man U win a spectacular game against Arsenal 4-0.

so that's that...

clouds

i'm not sure what it is, but right now i'm loving joni mitchell. though i'm listening to "clouds" right now, i found this link of her playing in canada in 1965. once you've opened it and it's playing, just hold out, have faith, she'll play solo soon after chip and the rest of his gang have done their bit.

tornadoes

it's tornado weather right now in huntsville, alabama. it's early in the morning there...maybe around 5 o'clock...and many huntsvillians are probably gathered around their tvs, radios or computers - some might already be closeted away in their bathrooms and tubs lined with pillows and blankets.

just chatted with my family a bit ago...mom and dad keenly keeping track of the weather, brian complaining about having to wake up...i miss that.

tornado season was actually quite an exciting time for me growing up. i loved the weather and the look of the incoming storm. i loved peering out of the porch or walking out into the street looking for the green in the sky; and the thrill of having to jump in the car to go to the Wolfe's house to hide away in their basement in the case that things got really serious.

brian always got really scared...it was very cute...but like, really, really scared. he would often start screaming and running around the house hysterically only to jump immediately into the tub and hide under all the bed clothes.

please say a prayer for those in the storm.
